Specification Regardless of the specification and tolerances required by the customer, all certificates are issued in terms of EN 10204. The following certificates are available:
Certification to AD 2000 W2 (TüV ) The following steel types manufactured to EN 10028-7 (No. 1 finish only) are certified to AD 2000 W2 & AD 2000 W10 (TüV certification), with the approval of TüV Rheinland.
Notes: 1. For gauges thicker than those covered under 3.1 + AD 2000 W2/W10, 3.2 Certification (external TüV approval) available on request. Certification to Deutsches Institut Für Bautechnik Ü sign Ü sign certification will be issued for the approved types and gauges viz. 1.4301, 1.4401, 1.4435, 1.4541 & 1.4571. Certification to Pressure Equipment Directive (PED/97/23) Certification to PED/97/23 is available on all Columbus material produced to EN 10028-7 up to a maximum thickness of 50mm. Packing
Full packing details can be obtained from controlled document number PAC-INS-032, “Packing Methods”, available on our downloads page. However, some generalised packing methods are given below.
Cold Rolled Coil
Packing is suitable for rail/road/sea transport. Coil may have inner cores in gauges of 0.8mm and less. Coil axis is horizontal. Coil has no wooden base, unless shipped in containers. Unembossed polypropylene corex solid discs (polo), one on each side of the coil. Coils then have embossed polypropylene corex sheet and polypropylene sheet around the circumference of the coil. In the inner eye, the coils have embossed polypropylene corex sheet and polypropylene sheet. Polypropylene formed outer and inner edge protectors are used. The polo circumference wrap and inner bore wrap are then cut, folded and welded together to form a water resistant pack. The coil is labelled with two bar code labels, one on either side of the coil.
Fourths Cold Rolled Coil
Coil axis is horizontal. Coil has no wooden base. Embossed polypropylene corex sheet is placed around the circumference of the coil and in the inner eye of the coil. The coil is labelled with two bar code labels, one on either side of the coil. Cold Rolled Sheet
Packing is suitable for rail/road/sea transport. Cold rolled sheet is packed on a wooden pallet and in the case of export orders, an unembossed polypropylene corex sheet is placed between the wooden pallet and the material. Blue low density polyethylene plastic sheet is then stapled to the wooden pallet. An unembossed polypropylene corex sheet is placed on top of the steel, folded over the lengths and stapled to the wooden pallet. The polypropylene corner edge protectors on the widths are folded in and welded to the unembossed polypropylene corex sheet on top. For both local and export orders, one polypropylene corner edge protector is placed on the edge on each of the lengths. In the case of export orders, wooden top support slates are placed underneath each width strap on top of the case. 16mm PET strapping is used. Three straps are used for case lengths up to 3 metres, four straps for cases up to 4 metres, five straps for cases up to 5 metres and six straps for cases up to 6m. The case is labelled with two bar code labels, one on either side of the case.
Slit Coil
The slit is placed onto an eye to the sky wooden pallet with blue low density polyethylene plastic sheet between the slit and the wooden pallet. Two bar code labels are stapled to the wooden pallet. The slit coil is strapped with 16mm PET eye band strapping, one on each side of the slit coil. Blue low density polyethylene plastic sheet is then folded over and into the eye of the slit. Unembossed polypropylene corex sheet is placed on top, followed by blue low density polyethylene plastic sheet. High density polyethylene is used as the top outer edge protector. One 16mm PET strapping is the applied around the high density polyethylene outer edge protector and two across the slit. The slit is labelled with three bar code labels, one on either side of the slit and one on top. Marking
All cold rolled coils are marked beginning and end with a sticker, unless otherwise specified. Normal cold rolled sheet will be continuously line marked on the top surface. For BA, No. 4 and HOL sheet products, the top sheet in each pack will be marked. Coil and sheet will be marked with MPO (coil) number, type, gauge, dimensions, finish and specification unless otherwise specified |
